he Memphis Inner City Rugby project works in one of the most deprived neighbourhoods in the United States. It turns out great kids by providing them an academic and athletic future and by deterring them from gangs, drugs, and early pregnancies. Alongside the rugby element of the programme, Memphis Inner City Rugby also provides the opportunity for children and young adults to learn about leadership and potential careers as well as being given academic support. The Atlas Foundation also gave the programme an emergency Covid-19 grant, helping Memphis Inner City Rugby to support children within their programme with food and care packages during the pandemic.
In 2019-2020, Memphis Inner City Rugby visited 216 High Schools, 31 Middle Schools and 41 Elementary Schools, with every child receiving 250 hours of the programme. The project has a 100% college acceptance rate, providing a platform to give children the chance to thrive in later life.
