The Atlas foundation I am raising money for puts it's efforts into supporting charities that put the values of sport, particularly rugby and education, in deprived countries at the heart of their efforts. I have personally travelled to Zimbabwe and India and seen the work that the Atlas foundation has supported. In Zimbabwe they were teaching teachers in schools to teach sport and rugby. The fascinating thing there was the number of girls who were playing now. In Africa it is the girls who get things done, but also are expected to do the chores from a young age. It had a profound effect on me seeing the empowerment that these girls got from having a place to go and be free, to run and play together, and also to be educated. The story was not too dissimilar in India, although there the rugby club "The Jungle Crows" brought children, boys and girls, from all the neighbouring villages to a focal point where they enjoyed fun times together playing rugby. This small area of North India has three girls who are now in the Indian International squad. This story has now also been turned into a movie called "Jungle Cry" which is being shown at Cannes on 17th May. Please support this great foundation.
