During my first year at Swansea University I lived in the same halls as Ian Williams who, as many will know, tragically passed away in 2018 while training for Doncaster Knights. Ian was an ever present face for many people in our university across our 3 years, whether it was through his rugby or through his more social side.

I would like to help do my bit to support the great work that the Ian Williams Foundation are aiming to achieve, especially around making cardiac screenings standard within all levels of rugby. As a physiotherapist making sport as safe as possible is very important to me, helping to keep all levels of athletes safe. For more information on the foundation, its objectives or progress please visit www.theianwilliamsfoundation.org.

After having a crazy thought of wanting to complete an Ironman triathlon earlier this year, I unfortunately missed out getting into the famous Tenby Ironman. However, as this was no longer an option, I rather unwisely signed up for the Brutal Extreme Triathlon kicking off at 7am on Saturday 31st August 2019.

The event consists of a 2.4 mile swim, followed by a 115.96 mile bike, before finishing with a 25.1 mile run. To make this Ironman distance event even more simple, the route will take me up and down the famously flat terrain of Snowdon.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated to help achieve the vision of the Ian Williams Foundation.
