Atlas has committed to helping build a modern and vital community centre in the heart of Lilongwe, Malawi. Working with our charitable partners, Bhubesi Pride, Atlas has helped fund the acquisition of land on which the centre will be built.

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world. For decades, it has ranked in the highest infant mortality, lowest GDP per capita, and highest rates of curable disease such as malaria. It is vitally important that work is done for the children of Malawi to ensure that social change can be brought to local communities.

The centre will be a focal point for children to come together and play rugby. Alongside this, there will be a feeding programme that will ensure that the children are receiving adequate nutrition. It will be one of the first of its kind to come to this area of the country, including accommodation for travelling volunteers to help the children of the community.

See progress at Sept 2018 below when our first intern Wil Andrews visited the programme. The programme has been so dramatically advanced by his uncle, who lives in Lilongwe and has ensured that local legalities and suppliers are all in place, and by Tim Mahoney, the charity's consultant build project manager.
