KRDA Bus & Mobile Classroom

The Kings Rugby Development Academy focuses to provide opportunities for disadvantaged children in the Kiberia Slums to engage in rugby in an attempt to support their futures and surpass poverty.

The Atlas Foundation has established a project with KRDA to provide a bus for the kids in Kenya's Kiberia Slums. This bus would not only transport the kids from their homes to the playing field, but it would be transformed into a mobile classroom, seating 41 children and giving them access to a teacher and six school sessions.

Atlas has already approved £86,000 for the purchase and fabrication of the bus, but the KRDA Bus & Mobile Classroom Project is looking for support to run and maintain the mobile classroom as well as to ensure the bright futures for these children and their teacher.

These were the blueprints for the bus to be redesigned into the mobile classroom, but the reality of poor road surfaces and low hanging wires meant that a long wheel base single decker was the only possible option.
