Around the World in 7 Days and the Singapore Dorms

Back in May the Atlas Foundation joined forces with the RAF Police Rugby team (aka The Flying Pigs) in a challenge to virtually circumnavigate the Globe. The 25,000 mile adventure was to be carried out collectively around the world; walking, running, hopping, cycling any which way we could. We are absolutely delighted to announce that the Saracens and England lock, Maro Itoje, has been elected to the Board of Trustees. As an Atlas Foundation Trustee Maro will be legally responsible, as a Board Director, for charitable compliance and will work with the other Trustees to set the strategic direction of the charity, ensuring that Atlas fulfils its vision and mission.

Virtual Race to the Stones

After the cancellation of this years ‘Race to the Stones’ 100 km ultra-marathon over 60 friends and family of the original Nicholson Memorial Fund/Atlas Foundation Race to the Stones team have walked, run and cycled between 6th and 12th July in memory of our three stars, Anita, Alex and Annabel as part of the Race to the Stones Virtual Challenge.

Youth Day brings kids together in Masi

Tuesday 16th June was Youth Day in South Africa and our coaches brought a small crowd of children together in the Community Square at Masiphumelele to engage with them for a few hours and provide a small hot snack after their activities. All children and coaches adhered to social distancing and hand washing measures throughout the day's activities.

Rugby Family Pulls Together

Tragically Atlas's Singapore event manager, Anita Nicholson, was killed along with her rugby-mad children Alex and Annabel in the Sri Lanka bombings on Easter Sunday. Atlas is working with Anita's husband Ben to establish a memorial fund and a permanent fitting tribute to these wonderful and much missed members of our rugby family.

Richmond Heavies Foundation Fund

The Richmond Heavies is the veteran’s side of Richmond Rugby Club in West London, one of the oldest clubs in the world and presently playing in the RFU Championship as the sole amateur club. Several recent unexpected bereavements of players have led to the creation of a charitable foundation to help protect senior and junior players at the club, as well as being able to help those immediately impacted, by a serious illness or bereavement.
